Welcome to Mary Birdsong Land!

Strap yourself in sailor, because you're going to take the ride of your life. The reason? Well, when you try to uncover the real Mary Birdsong, you never know which one you might find. But according to Variety, any version of Mary is "priceless."

Will you meet Deputy Kimball on the hit show RENO 911 on Comedy Central? The downtown cabaret song stylist? Or the rock star that fronts her own band? Maybe you'll meet the Broadway starlet who wowed them in "MARTIN SHORT: FAME BECOMES ME!" She had so much wow in that show that they gave her a Theatre World Award for it! And she just happens to channel Judy Garland so convincingly that gay men on both coasts are going straight for her. (Naysayers? Scowling curmudgeons? Check out the "Shows" page on this site to purchase your own copy of her critcially acclaimed one woman show "Judy Speaks" to see for yourself).

So don't be intimidated, and don't hate her because she's got to beat off her fans, including the celebrityones, with sticks. There's enough Mary for everyone to uncover, literally and figuratively. Now, play her in strip poker or just poke around the site and find out why her fans and the press call her "the best."

RIGHT NOW!
Mary has just been cast opposite George Clooney in "The Descendants," which will be directed by Alexander Payne ("About Schmidt," "Election," "Sideways"). The film is slated to start shooting in Hawaii this Spring.
Did you catch Mary playing evil stepmother to Twilight's Kristen Stewart in Adventureland? If not, it's now out on DVD. Or if you are in the mood to be scared out of your mind, you can also rent Rob Zombie's Halloween II (the unrated director's cut) in which she gets bossed around by Malcolm McDowell (as Dr. Loomis).
Amidst all the film & tv activity, Mary is continuing to write the rock muscial featuring her alter-ego,"99 CENT WHORE." Collaborating with playwright Mark Hampton ("Full Gallop") and songwriters Greg Talenfeld (Cottonhead), Julia Darling, and Mike Ruekberg (The Red Button), this edgy romp promises to be well worth the reasonable 99 cent price of admission. The rock band incarnation of 99 Cent Whore had the honor of being made "Artist of the Week" at poprockcandymountain.com

In the theatre world, Mary was thrilled to be a part of the workshop for the rock musical "Tales of the City" this past summer (music by Scissor Sisters bandmates John Garden and Jason Sellards). Stay tuned for further updates on this Broadway-bound production being shaped by Avenue Q boy-geniuses Jason T. Moore and Jeff Whitty.

Closet theatre geeks? Be proud!!! See oh so humble (yet inwardly oh so pysched) Mary accept her Theatre World Award, given each season to promising actors who have made their Broadway or Off-B'way debut. Click here or here for some fun photos of the ceremony.
